Wondering why we need your help? Simply put, the cost of living with a spinal cord injury is astronomical and the amount of expenses although required for a healthy existence at minimum paid by insurance is … the polar of astronomical, yeah it’s that.
Here is a quick breakdown:
The average yearly expenses (health care costs and living expenses) and the estimated lifetime costs that are directly attributable to SCI vary greatly based on education, neurological impairment, and pre-injury employment history.
These estimates do not include any indirect costs such as losses in wages, fringe benefits, and productivity (indirect costs averaged $71,961 per year in 2014 dollars).
The cost vary on the severity or level of injury. My injury level falls in the category of Low Tetraplegia (Quadriplegia) were the first year cost is around $769,351 and $113,423 each year following. 😳
